Hi,
I have an external system where I have many contacts/leads. I want to import those contacts into Dynamics 365 Marketing.
Is it possible through API ?
if yes, can anyone guide how to create api and integrate with Dynamics and external system ?

The Marketing app UI lets you import data from files -

If its a one of import - get all your data from external source into Dynamics and from that point on you maintain the list in dynamics then I recommend you try to setup an export and import process through this UI.
In addition, if you want to setup something like a continuous import or sync you could write custom code that works directly with the CDS apis. An example of this could be found here -
