Is there a way of setting up transfer order issue work so that I don’t get an outbound load and shipment or is there a way to confirm a transfer order outbound shipment with auto-receive (if the ‘To warehouse’ is WMI)?
I’ve setup my WHS work for transfer order issue. I create a transfer order and release it to the warehouse. I execute the transfer order issue and put all of my items to the ‘Baydoor’ location. The Transfer order inventory transactions now show status = Picked. So far, so good.
In the old days (WMI) at this point I’d post a transfer order shipment – but that option’s greyed out and so far I’ve only found that I can go to the Load planning work-bench, select my outbound load and confirm the outbound shipment. My transfer order is now ‘Shipped’ and assuming that my ‘To warehouse’ is WMI (not WHS) I can post a transfer order receive when the truck arrives at the ‘To warehouse’. So that works just fine to model the scenario where for instance I’m transferring from an internally managed WHS warehouse to let’s say and external 3PL warehouse so distance away.
But the business process I’m trying to model now is a transfer from one warehouse to another warehouse on the same site – let’s say that I have some damaged product and I want to move it out of my main warehouse, or I have bulk stores (WHS) and I want to transfer to a production supermarket warehouse (WMI). What I’m looking for here is the option to post the Transfer order shipment with ‘Auto-receive’. I don’t want the extra step of posting the transfer order receive – it adds no value. I don’t actually even need a transfer order outbound load and shipment.

Hi Fatih!
Yes, it does. It is very important to have Late selection checked. This forces the system to run the query every time the batch runs. I think you did not have it checked and selection was only performed one time when you set up your batch.
Hi David,
Thank you for the information. However, does it work for a new transfer order that you create after setting this batch job? It did not in my environment
Just to clarify, go to Inventory management / Periodic / Transfer update / Receive
Then:
In my example all transfer orders with the status shipped going to the EXT warehouse will be automatically received every ten minutes.
.
Hi,
I was not really thinking that this would be possible with standard functionalities. Still I tried to find a solution and made a few tests but no, I am positive that will require customization.
Hi Tim!
Instead of using the auto-receive parameter during shipment I would recommend creating a batch job that periodically receives transfer orders that are in status "shipped" and have their To warehouse set to where you want auto receipts to be processed.
As I have seen the process its like that. If you are doing WMS pick and put in warehouse system is expecting you to do the same pick and put in other warehouse also but you can receive it directly also if you want want to use pick and put in receive you need to create work template and location directive.
Or you can customize it as auto receive.
