Load balancing a MS Dynamics GP terminal server for 30 users

We have client who wants to move to having all users remote to a terminal server. They have 30 users. The database size is only 50GB but contains 20 years of data. They would prefer to use Hyper-V. For only 30 users is it best to house the clients in one T/S or would it be better to split up the T/S's? I am looking for suggestions as to the best way to configure their terminal server. Moving to a cloud server will happen but not right now.

The client is currently running four Hyper-V host servers. In each server there is only 8GB RAM available in each. They have 27 users so I am suggesting that they experiment with loading an image with GP 18.2 and then start loading users. Most users are entering sales orders and creating purchase orders. Once they start to notice significant performance degradation they can add another image. Does this make sense?

What would you think of 4 terminal servers with 8GB RAM in each server? The client currently has 4 servers with 8GB RAM in each. With this configration no additional cost would be incurred.

    HI Richard,

I would suggest at least two terminal server with the load balancing to also have a backup once one server is down.   I would also add to have like a 32 GB of RAM on each to enhance the user experience.

While not the exact information you're looking for, per System Requirements for Dynamics GP 2018/18.2, it mentions 8 GB of min RAM for up to 30 concurrent users, this under the 'Remote Desktop Service Requirements' section of the page, so based on that, it seems that having the users all on one terminal server is feasible, though other variables would be the number of processed transactions per day, number of modules used extensively and more.

I imagine the community will have some more 'real life' experiences they can share as well........

    Thanks

By the way, does anyone know how the Microsoft 365 licenses work in this case? Do they need one license for the T/S and one license for the laptop?
