Currently I am trying to grant access to the users with Generator right so that they can generate the report whenever they want. However, it seems like they can view all the reports once they are under Report Designer. I have already created separate folder in the Report Library and grant permission to the group but it won't apply the same restriction under Report Designer where they generate the report. Is there anyone who can give me suggestion on this?
A user with the Generator role will have access to Report Designer to generate reports. They will not be able to make any changes to those reports. Within Report Designer, there is not a way to apply security to building block folders. A Generator user would be able to see all rows, columns, trees and reports in the company. You can password protect a building block by clicking the padlock icon. However, users can still open the building block as 'read-only'. Because a Generator user cannot change the design of a report, password protecting a building block would not do anything.
