Australia ABA file format for NAB using NAV 2016

Hi All,

In the bank accounts, I have ticked "EFT Balancing Record Required".

I generate ABA file from NAV 2016 by going to Payment Journals > EFT Payments > Create file.

The file generated matches the format except for the count of records, it doesn't count the balancing record.

While uploading the file to NAB Connect, the upload failed saying the "Error in uploaded file, the file format cannot be recognised - record type invalid or record size incorrect".

The file type when saving the file is ".txt". I have tried changing it to All files and name the file "Payment.aba"

However, I still encounter the same issue.

Anyone can help?

Thanks.

Susy

Renaming the file would not help. How do you recognized that the file generated matches the format except for the count of records? That it doesn't count the balancing record?

    Hi Alexander,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have the format from the existing system which can be uploaded to the bank successfully, and then I have the spec from the bank on how the file should be populated.

Using formula in excel, I split each line into the different section based on the bank spec.

I just did a count on the number of characters for each line in the ABA file generated by NAV, there are 121 characters (last character is a space). The ABA file should only have 120 characters. This maybe another issue with the generated file.

As for count of records record, the last line of the ABA File is a File Total Record Line where user needs to insert the count of Record Type 1 (Detail lines for all the payments).

I tested running the payment file from a bank account with "EFT Balancing Record Required" ticked. The total count of record shown is 4.

When I unticked "EFT Balancing Record Required" from the bank account card, the total count of record shown is still 4.

Hence I suspect, the program to generate the file doesn't count the Balancing record that is auto generated.

    Regards,

    Susy

Found the issue in the coding of Codeunit 11603: EFT Management - CreateFileManagement function

Can this code be modified with Application Builder licence?

If you can get into the code then you edit and save.
