Toolkit for AX2012 Upgrade in Self Service Enviroment to D365 F&O

Dear Professionals,
 
We Finished Upgrading our Database in D365 Development Enviroment on Azure,
now to need to start Upgrade In Self Service Enviroment, my Question :- 
 
When setup the toolkit on the source Database
can we start toolkit replication process on Production Source AX 2012 and keep it working ?
till we decide to cutover and start real upgrade ?
