Can I update lead records on dynamics 365 via an upload??

Hello!

I need to update about 2,000 existing leads on my CRM. I'm currently using the latest Dynamics 365 update (2020). I've recently created a new field and need to add certain values for that field for every existing lead (different value for each lead). I've worked with other CRMs before, like Hubspot and Zoho, and I know you can just upload an Excel file (either a .csv, .xls or a .xlsx) and it would automatially identify each lead record and update their value.

Thanks for the help!

    Hi Jose,

Yes, we can update existing Leads records by uploading Excel.

It is divided into three steps: ? export the data to an Excel file and download it, ? modify the data in the Excel file, ? import the modified Excel file into D365.

For example, I want to modify the "Business Phone" field of Leads.

Here I share a quick way.

    Step 1

Open the Advanced Find, search for Leads, select a view, you can add new filters on the view, the purpose is to search out all records to be modified.

Click Edit Columns to add the fields you want to modify.

Click Result to view the search results. We can see that the fields to be modified have been added. Click Export Leads > Static Worksheet to download it.

    Step 2

Open the downloaded Excel file and modify records. All field values must conform to the field format.

    Step 3

Go to a Lead view, click Import form Excel. Upload the modified file.

After finishing import, go to Advanced Settings > Data Management > Imports to see the import result.

    Dear Jose,

    Greetings of the day!

In regards to your concerns, You should do this using Export to excel ->Open in Excel Online feature.

For that you have to add your field in view & from entity list view, Go to Export to excel -> Open in Excel Online.

It will open entity records list in excel, from that you have to add/ value of field which you have to update for all records & then click on "SAVE CHANGES TO DYNAMICS" (For unified interface click on "SAVE"). It will update all change to dynamics.

You will also able to create records by adding row of data in excel & then save that.

Also, kindly refer the link below for your reference.
