How to import the historical Fixed assets Data details

Hi everyone,

Our company is starting a new dynamics 365fo implementation. Since a lot of fixed asset were originally acquired long time ago (say since 1990).

I need to upload the fixed assets with annual depreciation information (since 1990 to 2021) in 365fo instead of accumulated depreciation to 31/12/2021.

Point to be noted: Calendar periods from 1996 to 2020 are not open.

I need to upload these depreciation information (annual depreciation) for only consultation and reference in my asset

So the question is how to post transaction for assets with date prior to 2020 to have annual dpreciation details in my fixed asset book?

thanks in advance !

I have the same question (0)

    Hi

I should recommend, upload the fixed assets with their current value, and closing all depreciation in your old application.

if the Fiscal calendar is closed for the duration then DMF will not be allowed you to upload, and if the calendar is open then you need to perform the closing which will create a problem for you and will make an impact on your trail balance sheet as well.

    Hi,

You can change your fiscal calendar with a new one that contains previous years, after posting, undo to your current calendar.

    Hi Sohail

Thank you for your quick reply

I searched if there is an other method to import annual depreciation from 1990 to 2020 for information in my asset = without posting journals and opening anterior fiscal years

Only depreciation of 2021  will be imported by posting a journal

we need to have all the historical data in d365 FO as information

    Thanks

If you absolutely need all the historical depreciation for reporting or analysis, you might consider importing the details into a BYOD or Azure SQL database, from which you can report using Power BI.  You could use both F&O and the database as data sources in your Power BI report.

    Hi,

Its not a good practice to import all the historical data in chronological order in D365, normally companies import on a cut of date.

And if they need details before that period then they can export that data in to BYOD or any external source to report later on.
