Hi,

Could someone please explain me the difference in detail between InventDimId and InventDimIdDefault.

Have to understand the code to do some mappings. hence requesting for a detailed explanation.

    Can you explain in what context you are looking for the answer? Is this in a certain table or method? Please elaborate.

    InventDimIdDefault is a field found on the table InventItemInventSetup, InventItemPurchSetup, and InventItemSalesSetup, as well as the map InventItemOrderSetupMap.  If you're asking about the field, it means you're probably working with item data, i.e. importing a released product.

    These records correspond to the Default order settings and Site specific order settings child forms found on the Manage inventory tab of a Released product.

    When the InventDimId is the "all blank" value, then the record is for Default order settings (which is site-less), and the InventDimIdDefault supplies the default site for the module of the record (Invent/Purch/Sales).  When the InventDimId refers to a site, then the record is for the Site specific order settings, and the InventDimIdDefault supplies the default warehouse for the module of the record.

    In other words,

    InventDimId: AllBlank, InventDimIdDefault: main site

    InventDimId: any site, InventDimIdDefault: main warehouse for the site

    Hi Lakshmi,

    There are two setting in inventory for Invent, Purch , Sales

    1. default order setting

    2. Site specific setting

    When are you creating product company wise, It will create default setting row for  InventItemInventSetup, InventItemPurchSetup, and InventItemSalesSetup table as "AllBlank" in inventdimID and inventdimIDDefault both field.

    If you are changing default order setting value by site dimension, AllBlank will get change as per inventory dimension value  for field  inventdimIDDefault but inventdimID field still having value "AllBlank"

    If you are changing Site specific setting with site and warehouse

    - Site related change inventory dimensioned will be mapped in InventDimid field and warehouse related change inventory dimension value will be mapped on inventdimIDDefault  field with new row.
