We've recently changed the workflow of our warehouse, and want to start using put-aways.

One problem we've found is that when we created the bins in each location, we did not setup the bin type. Now, we can't assign a bin type if the location is not empty. We need to assign bin type to over 300 bins.

Is there any standard procedure to change the type of a bin when it's not empty?

You have to empty the bin to make any changes to bin. That is the only option available.

If that bin is not being used currently then you can make the change, but if that bin is already assigned on the pick which is not registered or on the shipment or receipt which is not shipped or received then you cannot change it. Make sure there is no activity pending with that bin to make a change.
