External Item descriptions for Customer and vendor

Hi,
 
We have a requirement to mass update external item descriptions against 1000 items with all customers, so we created customer group in external items and then tagged it to item manually.
 
No data entity directly exists. found excel add in as 

CustomerProductDescriptionV2

VendorProductDescriptionV2

 

but still that is not accepting if we are adding customer group to the record. We dont have an option to add if it is single record or group we are selecting in excel add in.

Can any one help on this.

    Hi,
    From what I remember, this is more of a standard limitation. The CustomerProductDescriptionV2 / VendorProductDescriptionV2 entities work only for specific customers or vendors, not for customer/vendor groups.
    Even though the UI allows selecting a group in External item descriptions, the Excel add-in and data entities don’t support expanding a group into individual customers. I recall seeing this mentioned in earlier docs or community discussions or one of the blogs.
    In practice, people usually handle this via a custom entity or an X++ batch/job to explode the customer group and create records per customer.

    Hi Manufacturing,
     
    The entity you found for Excel is also available in Data management using the name External item descriptions for customers V2, and External item descriptions for vendors V2.
     
    You can use the External item description group in the data entity. You then need to use another column, not the column for the customer account number.
     
     
    Note that the External item description groups is another table than the Customer groups.
