Demand Forecast - historical demand based on inventory expected date?

Hi All

AX 2012 R3.  Can anyone share some views on the reasoning why the creation of historical demand, the expected inventory date from the sales order (i.e. delivery date) is used and not the actual invoice date (financial or even physical date).

If you would take it by actual invoice date, this would mean you will plan not according to your initial demand, but according to how you managed to fulfill this demand. When doing the planning, it is important to rely on the initial demand.

    I agree Alexander.

As to why the physical date isn't used, I'd think you'd want to forecast for being on-time (ie. when the customer requested the material) - you wouldn't want to forecast based on whenever the material finally shipped.

    Thanks Alexander.
