We're getting mixed info on the best practice for indexing when using AX.  Is it regular SQL indexing or AX indexing  (open within AX admin) or both.  Can someone share Pros and Cons.

If it helps we currently run AX 4.0 SP1 using SQL 2005.

Plans to upgrade AX2012 in 2012.

Indexes are created and maintained in AX. AX synchronizes that index information into to SQL indexes. If you add indexes manually, the AX synchronization process will remove any changes you've made.

So bottom line, indexes should be created in AX, but they are in fact synchronized to SQL. Which means SQL re-indexing does affect performance in AX.
