General Business Posting Group and Production Order

Hi:
 
On a Firm Planned Production Order in Manufacturing, no General Business Posting Group defaulted.
 
I have checked all setups. 
 
So, I don't understand why I had to manually add this to the Order.
 
Any thoughts?

    This is standard BC setup. No gen business posting groups are required for production orders posting. Reason is that production orders only need gen product posting group. It makes sense cause such orders, unlike other transactions which involves a who, be it a buyer or seller, and what, production order only involves the what, which is the product.

    To add to what Jun outlined. The Gen. Bus. Posting Group is linked to the Customer or Vendor, so it doesn't come into play during Production.
     
    You should setup a General Posting Setup that has a blank Gen. Bus. Posting Group and the Item's Gen. Prod. Posting Group, so the costs know where to go in the G/L.  The Sales and Purchasing columns should be left blank to avoid a situation where this setup was used in a Sales or Purchase transaction.
