In General Journal the "Tax Group" and "Item Tax Group" fields are populated when line is manually created but not when importing file with DMF

In case of creating a new Journal line, the "Tax Group" and "Item Tax Group" fields are populated when choosing an Account. But when I import data through DMF in General journal entity the fields remain empty.

The first line in the image is created manually using the "New" button and when I choose the Account then the 2 Tax fields are filled automatically.

But the last line which is imported through Excel file does not populate the 2 Tax fields.

Is there a process to solve this or a dev modification is needed?

The difference is that DMF does not perform all of the defaulting that occurs when completing the entry via the UI.

If the values are always the same, you can update your mapping to always populate the sales tax fields with the respective values. If the values are expected to default from the account setup - DMF won't fit your need without development.

In addition to Morgan's response, fixed values can be defaulted in Data entity setup as shown in below link

If required to map value using logic then it can be done in mapEntityToDatasource method of Data entity

    Thank you for your replies.

When I create a new record in Journal lines and I choose Account then these fields are populated depending on the Main Accounts setup. But that does not happen when I import the data through DMF.

I tried to add some logic by 2 ways:

    1. Extension of postGetStagingData method of the LedgerJournalEntity

    2. Created a PostHandler for copyCustomStagingToTarget method

Both ways seem to work fine for now.

If someone has any concern or an idea for better practice, please share it with us.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Vasileios,

Can you tell if you imported a file including these two columns with empty values or was the file without the columns for the Tax group and Item tax group? If you have the columns with empty values, it will assume to import with blank values anyway.

Hi Andre and thank you for your response,

No, I had not included the 2 columns in the file. However, I thought to try it when trying the Post Handler but the behaviour was the same eventually.
