Variant - Product Description Location (table) in AOT

Hi There,

I would like to extract a table from the AOT that houses the Product Description that is in the Released Variant Screen...the only one I can seem to find is ECOResProduct Translation. However, this appears to be a table housing the general description and not necessarily what is used or specified in the Product Name field within the Released Variants Screen. Does anyone know which table houses this information?

Hi Kchung,

The variants of a product are also stored in the EcoResProduct table. All item names are stored in this table.

The released product and variants do have a reference to the EcoResProduct table.

I have checked this table and it appears to only contain the search name and not product description found under the Released Product Variant Screen which we are utilizing to capture a different type of info.

Sorry. My intention was to tell you that the EcoResProduct table has the products, but also the base for the variants. The descriptions (translated names) are indeed in the EcoResProductTranslation table also for the variants.

Sorry I am not understanding.....I downloaded the EcoResProd Translation table...it appears to be listing the description of an item whose Product Name field in the Released Product Variant screen is blank. It is my understanding that since this field is blank in the Released Product Variant Screen, that it should show as blank in EcoResProductTranslation or not be listed at all if this table in fact gives me description by variant info.

Can you explain with some screen shots or examples? Probably there is a description in another language. Then it will not show on the form unless you look into the language translations.

Hi Kchung,

The base table of this form is EcoResDistinctProductVariant. This table is extended from the EcoResProduct table. These tables don't have any description field. This is in the table EcoResProductTranslation. The system language determines the base language for the Product name field on the product and the product variant forms. When you enter a value in this field it is stored in the EcoResProductTranslation table.

When you have a product (item '1404') with e.g. color and size dimensions the EcoResProduct table can contain the next records:

Display product number Search name

1404 Shirt

1404 : Red : S Shirt

1404 : Red : M Shirt

1404 : Red : L Shirt

1404 : Blue : S Shirt

1404 : Blue : M Shirt

1404 : Blue : L Shirt

Each product (or variant) can have its own description and translations. In this architecture the description is the translation in the system language.

When you change the system language or have products imported and provided another language the product name field can appear blank on the forms. You can then either change the system language back to its original value or copy/change the translations from one language to another with a script (or manual).

I understand but looking at those tables I still can't see how to tie back the product name to the item. I have looked through all table you mentioned and checked RECID's (which is the only column and number I can link the variant product name to) and none tie back to the ones in the Ecoresprodtranslation (at least for the one I want). An example is item 77777 whose RECID in the Ecoresprodtranslation table is ****750..within this table is another description for the same item at the variant level - whose recid is ****999 - it is this 999 that I am trying to tie back to 77777....

Hi Kchung,

You can't link the records based on the record ID's in both tables. The link with the rec id of the EcoResProduct and the variant table can be mapped with the field Product in the EcoResProductTranslation table.

Please verify.

I don't have a field called product within the EcoResProductTranslation table. I only have the column headers,: Description, language, recid, partition and recversion.[quote user="Kchung"]
