Sum up the Values in Fields of Child Records - Update the Total in Parent Entity

Hello Team,

I'm really stuck on a point and need help ASAP.

I have created a rollup field that gives me the number of active opportunities and it worked fine.

I specifically wanting to sum the totals of all active opportunities (Childs) and show that value on the custom field (Parent) record. I'm wondering if CRM allows you to do this through a rollup or other feature. I have read that can also be done throught Dynamics workflow, but I've never use it.

Appreciate the help!

Thanks

    Hello Raphael,

Rollup should allow that. Do you experience any issues with it?

    Hi Raphael,

You should already be using 'Count' in rollup field to calculate the number of active opportunities:

So you want to sum these rollup field value in parent records with another rollup field?

If so, you can't achieve it, "A rollup over the rollup field is not supported."

Then you can use power automate to sum the totals of all active opportunities.

Or you can create a simple number field and use power automate to count related opportunities to update the field, then create a rollup field to sum these number fields.

If I misunderstood the question please elaborate the same further. It would be helpful to be able to provide screenshots and explain which entities are involved

    Hi,

If you requirement is to show sum of active opportunity Revenue or any field then it can be easily achieved using Sum aggregate function in rollup field -

The only downside of using rollup field is, it gets calculated after every 24 hours which can be modified to run every 1 hour. However you can not go below 1 hour -
