Specify cost on item, based on sales price

Hi

A colleague asked me a question about a different erp-system here in Norway. About how one could set the cost amount on each item-sale on a specific item to be 75% of the price it is sold for (a flexible cost amount always set to 3/4 of the price the customer paid for the item).

This system he asked for can't solve this problem, but I asked myself if this is something Business Central could solve?? Do you guys have any ideas on how this could be done ?

And yes! I know that the cost price should be the actual cost price it is acquired for, but all that set aside... could this be done ?

Per sale you could use a charge item. The cost of items is determined by the costing method. If you’re buying stock per sale then you can have tight control on this anyway.

There is no standard functionality to do this. But with a customization you can do it.

If you use the standard cost method on the item then the standard cost could be updated for every sale to match the 3/4 rule you specify.

At least that is the path i would investigate along if i got this requirement.
