MS Dynamics NAV Excel Add-in fails?

I'm setting up NAV 2013 in a Win2K8 R2 terminal server environment and everything's working great until I attempt to use the "Export" function to export data to Excel. I'm receiving the error "Microsoft Dynamics NAV Excel Add-in encountered an external error: The session could not be retrieved from the server. The application will close."?

I have not encountered this issue before so if anyone has some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Does system open Excel before you get error message or you get error immediately?

What is security on this server?

Have registered the Dynamics NAV Excel Add in Excel? to ensure that the add in is registered, You can open the excel and just try to find out the Dynamics NAV tab, if it is not available then you need to register it manually from Excel --> Option. You might require administrative privilege for this.

Hello, I am new to this forum - so if I should not have commented here then please forgive me - however, I too have this same issue with the Excel Add-In and I need an answer as soon as possible as I do NAV pre sales and this was a functionality that is always well received in demos.

Difference for me is that I am not using R2. I am using Excel 2010. Plus I only get the error message (so far that I have found) when I try to send the Vendor List to Excel and it appears to only be from one Role Centre (Accounting Manager). My excel Add-in is registered, I do have the Dynamics NAV tab in Excel and the strange thing is - the Accounting Manager role can send other things to Excel ok eg: Purchase Order list or Posted Purchase Invoices. I just get this error when I try to send the Vendor List but up until a few days ago I was able to do this fine. I have tested using random other Roles and they all can send out the Vendor List ok. The only exception is my Purchasing Agent which cant send anything out to Excel. Just sits there in Excel and nothing happens, not even an error message.

Any thoughts or assistance on what to do to fix this would be greatly appreciated and again apologies if I should have created a separate post

Hello. Just found a solution to my issue - maybe KNICKSON this may help you?

I found that if I deleted the User personalisation(s) for the form I was trying to launch (Vendor List) then I can now send to Excel.

PS: As for my PURCHASER user - that was just simply because I had a separate (local) user set up and Excel didn't recognise that user
