Can I set up Main account to tie to the category?

Hi All,

At the purchase requisition form->Financial dimension, I'd like to have the Main account financial dimension to automatically populated (screenshot 1).  When I looked up the category form (screenshot 2), I don't see a financial dimension field.  So I can't set up the financial dimension to automatically populated...unless there is another way that someone could suggest.  Thanks so much!

    Hello Kim,

Do you use a main account in the chart of accounts and do you use an additional financial dimension 'main account'?

    If so, why is that?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

I'm not sure what you meant.  Yes, I have GL accounts in the COA.  What do you mean by additional financial dimensions 'main account'?  Could you share screenshot what you are talking about?  Thanks

Why is the main account shown in the financial dimension section?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Apparently, it has been requested to be added in the account structure?

  • lmai Profile Picture

No, it' not related to the account structure.  I just checked.  Account structure does not have a category segment

    Hello Kim,

Can you share screenprints of the account structures that are setup in your ledger form in GL?

Also, can you share details (screenprints) of those account structures and what elements they contain?

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Kim,

This is interesting. Thank you for sharing those details.

Coming back to the original problem with the PR and the dimension defaulting:

As you noticed, there is no easy way to fix the financial dimension.

    A possible workaround is:

    * setup a specific main account for the procurement category in the inventory posting matrix under inventory-setup-posting-posting and there the purchase tab. In this tab you can find a section for purchase expenditure for expense where the account can be setup.

    * In the COA you should be able to link this account to specific financial dimensions by making use of the fixed financial dimension link.

    Can you test this setup?

    Does that work for you?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Fixed financial dimension link?  Could you please share screenshot of what you meant, Ludwig? Thanks.

    Hello Kim,

Here is a screenprint of this linkage:

    fixfindim.png

If you setup your procurement category posting to a specific main account in the inventory posting matrix and if you establish this fixed financial dimension link for the main account then this financial dimension is always used for posting.

Note that the fixed financial dimension is even used in the voucher if users enter a different financial dimension in the PR/PO.

Before making use of this setup thus test carefully if this feature helps.

If it does not then a modification might be required that allows you specifying default dimensions at the procurement category level.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
