Forced change from Talent to D365 HR?

Posted on by 75

Hello,

I have some questions regarding the move from Talent to HR that I cannot seem to find the answer to.

I currently have a client that is using D365 Talent and using the Attract and Onboarding applications. Their renewal is coming up and we are trying to figure out how to properly bill them as the SKU is no longer available as of June 6  - "Talent is no longer sold". It also says that clients using Talent can continue using it until Feb 1 2022 or their next renewal date, whichever comes first. So I have a few questions:

  1. As it is past June 6th, is the client forced to switch to using D365 HR, or can they continue to use Talent with different billing? Yes/No
  2. If yes,
    • how will they be forced to switch?
    • If they are forced to switch, are they billed for the Self-service licenses considering they no longer need the Team member licenses for Talent (As of now they do not use any other MS Dynamics platform.)
    • Are there incentives for moving to LinkedIn considering those moving from Talent are losing the Attract & Onboarding functionality?
  1. If no,
    • What type of user licenses are now billed? Do they still need the full team member licenses or can they now be billed for the Self-service licenses even if they are still on Talent?
    • Is February 1st 2022 when they will absolutely be forced to switch? Again how are they forced to switch?
    • Can they still add on the Attract comprehensive licenses?

I have already reviewed the "Retiring Dynamics 365 Talent: Attract and Dynamics 365 Talent: Onboard Apps" post many times so please don't just post that resource.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

there is a discrepancy here: on one hand Microsoft is saying: "renew with your new licenses on your expiration date" (which in most cases means a year - check this here partner.microsoft.com/.../licensing -it says 12 months minimum for CSP), on the other hand they say "you can still use attract and onboard".

if I read again this article, community.dynamics.com/.../retiring-dynamics-365-talent-attract-and-onboard-apps, I understand that "Eligible customers can continue using Attract and Onboard until February 1, 2022 or the end of their most recent Dynamics 365 contract or renewal, whichever occurs first.  Current customers will be able to renew their contract up until June 6, 2020."

on the other hand, they also said that customers can still use Attract and Onboard for 3 more years. Apparently there will not be a removal of apps, but the licensing is at the limit.

if you are looking for a recruitment app integrated with Dyn365 HR, I can send you some more info about ours.

    best regards,

    nicu

Thanks Nicu this was helpful. Regarding reponse 1.

Considering Talent required a Full Team member license and now with HR there is both the option for Full Team member or Self-Service license. If they now renewed with the Self-service license even though they are still using Attract, Onboarding and Core HR, would they be incorrectly licensed (assuming they are only using D365 HR)?

I did, i first spoke with support who sent me to sales, then sent me to partner center, and they directed me back to sales. At that point I though It would be worth reaching out the community.

    Hello,

    1. The licensing has to be renewed with the new model when the billing period expires - for example, if the customer buys CSP licenses, they will have to purchase the new model upon renewal. Let's assume the customer purchased the licenses on Sept 1st 2019 - they will have to move to the new model on Sept 1st 2020 - they will keep Attract and Onboard, but the renewal has to be done with the new licensing.

    2. there is no automatic billing - the partner or the one buying has to insure the compliance. they are not "forced" to move, they are not correctly licensed.

There are no incentives for moving to LinkedIn - however, Linkedin announced special prices, but I haven't seen them so far.

February 1st 2022 is the moment when you can no longer access Attract and Onboard. After February 2020 (this year), the SKU for comprehensive hiring add-on cannot be purchased as a new product (only renewed).

    best regards,

    Nicu

Hello BMitchell, and thank you for the question - beyond the post you mention, I know most of the resources here speak from a customer support capacity instead of sales, so may be a bit difficult to speak to. Have you spoken with any Microsoft sales representatives regarding the above, or anyone from the licensing side?

    Hi bmitchell,

I'm not an expert to answer all your questions but let me try to help on a few of them.

Talent covered several modules as Core HR, Attract and Onboarding. As the Attract and Onboarding had been deprecated, the product has been rebranded to Dynamics 365 Human Resources. What I understood is that customers will continue to use the same service for the core HR part.

If you do nothing at this moment, the billing will be the same and the customer can still user Attract and Onboarding.

You can check with the customer when they have their moment for renewal which would in fact answer your other questions.

After February 1, 2022 the service will be not available anymore. As of June 6, 2020 new licenses to be able to work with Attract and Onboarding are not issued anymore.
