Item Journal with Negative Adjustment Entry Type but posted a Positive Quantity instead of Negative Quantity

We created an item journal for a non-bin controlled location - on the item journal we are adjusting two items - one is a positive adjustment and the other is a negative adjustment.

We are zeroing out the inventory for this item COWM2431 - which has 1 pc but we need to adjust it out to zero.

On the Item Journal - for item No. COWM2431 - on the entry type we put in Negative Adjustment and the quantity is 1 but when we post the item journal - on the item ledger entries we are seeing the quantity posted as 1 instead of -1. But the entry type is negative adjustment.

What could have cause this one? Is it because we have both positive and negative adjustment on the item journal?

How to fix this issue ? Right now our inventory is increase by 1 pc due to this entry , now we have 2 pcs.

When I did a test in my testing database, it seems to be working fine with the item journal having a negative adjustment entry type.

If you want to zero out the inventory you just need to do the negative adjustment why do you have +ve and -ve on the item journal and please verify if you there are any changes made to the codeunit 22, because when you post -ve adjustment with quantity 1 it should show as -1 in the item ledger entries, unless there is a bug in one of the customizations made.

There are two items on the item journal - Item A is a positive adjustment and the item COWM2431 is a negative adjustment.

The issue is that when we posted the Item Journal COWM2431 is not treated as a negative quantity but a positive quantity even though it is a negative adjustment.

We did not make any changes in the Codeunit 22.

Did you put the quantity in item journal as 1 or -1 ? you can do positive adjustment with -1 or negative adjustment with 1

We put the quantity in item journal as 1 with negative adjustment entry type.

Is there a way to check to see what was done on the item journal - when I did a navigate I saw a 1 on the item journal.

I am not sure what you mean, if you want to view the ledger entries then go to the item card - > History -> Entries - Item Ledger Entries

That is what I did. That is why I know that we put in a 1 under the negative entry type.

I am wondering what else could cause this if there is no mode on the codeunit 22

To fix this issue, I am thinking of doing an Item Journal with a negative entry type for quantity of 1 to fix the original item journal that causes the issue. Then create another item journal to zero out the inventory by using the negative entry type for quantity of 1.

    Will this work?

Yes, that should work if there are no modifications in the system.
