Detecting duplicates in leads

We import a lot of leads into the system but many have similar names to existing accounts or uses abbreviation (ie, IBM vs IBM Inc. vs International Business Machines Inc.)

Is there a way to catch these types of duplicates?
I have the same question (0)

    Hi HYC1,
You can basic duplicate detection by setting up duplicate detection rules.

For more complex logic, create JavaScript, Business Rules, or a Plugin to conditionally populate custom fields based on what constitutes a duplicate and then run duplicate detection rules on the custom fields.

    Hello HYC1,

Please refer to the Microsoft article on Enable the detection of duplicate leads | Microsoft Learn

Example: for IBM v/s IBM Inc, you can use duplicate detection with specific criteria

    Thanks for the replies.
We already have the duplicate detections in place.  The problem is that they're not able to filter for what we want.
I'm guessing there is no way to detect abbreviations except using custom scripts?

    Hi HYC1,
You will need to create custom logic to meet this requirement as duplicate detection rules will not be sufficient on their own.
