Under Maintenance -> Backup prior to GP 2013 you could set up a scheduled SQL backup. The schedule button has been removed. How are used supposed to set up a scheduled backup using GP? Do they now have to go into SSRS?

Yes, you would need to use SQL Server Agent to schedule the backups.
