Lock Reservations AX 2012

Dear all,

I'm using the Lock Reservation in AX 2012, by right, after locked the batch for item, this batch shall not be able to reserve again. However, in my testing, i still able to reserve the locked batch for the previous sales order for the new sales order.

Ex: I have 3 batch (1, 2 and 3) with 10 pcs each.

1st SO: 5 pcs => reserved with batch 2.

2nd SO: 5 pcs => still able to reverse with batch 2 

Does anyone could advice whether i missed any step or misunderstanding this function?

    Hi Thu,

    Lock reservation is the lock of the relation of the sales order reservation with the batch and not that batch is now not available to other SO.

    So in your case the lock reservation actually is the relationship lock for SO 1 with first 5 items of batch 2. This does not mean batch 2 remaining 5 items cannot be reserved with other orders.

    So SO 2 reservation with batch 2 remaining 5 items is fine.

    Thank you so much for your kind reply, i guess AX shall not automatically reserve the batch 2 for SO 2, but we still able to manually edit?

    Hi Thu,

    As long as there is some unreserved inventory on a batch it always available for reservation.

    Why your system is selecting the batch 2 depends on setup that can tell the reason why its selecting the batch for e.g one of the reasons could be expiry date.
