What is a reference group?

Hi all,

I am in need to finding out more info about reference group because it seems that a new case creation requires it (which is what I am currently working on). I am lacking in knowledge of it, and googling does not help much as I cant really find much info.

Also, I tried accessing community.dynamics.com/.../replacement-groups-in-ax-2012, but it seems like there's problem with the microsoft dynamics server as its not loading.

Could anyone please point me in the right direction, thanks in advance.
