Timesheets integration in D365 F&O with Azure DevOps via API

Hi Team,

I am looking a way to integrate Azure DevOps work items with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Timesheets.

So any Devops task, the time worked on the work item will reflect on the F&O client. Is there a way an API can help to achieve this?

Thanks

Avinash

How do you track time spent with a work item (in Azure DevOps)?

For any Task (work item) the History holds the Completed work, Remaining work. The tracking happens in History, we want to pick the History and make it use as an API in F&O.

Okay, so you don't have any time-tracking solution, you manually update Completed field and you want to extract history of these changes, correct?

Azure DevOps REST API does offer a service for work item history - Revisions - List.

Yes, we do not have any time tracking sol. We manually enter the completed work and we want to get the time from history of the work items.

Is there any tool from microsoft which will help me to get the time from work items history and integrate it to the timesheets entry in finance & operations?

No, I don't think there is anything in F&O that does this thing. It's looks like a unique requirement to me, therefore you'll have to implement it by yourself.

You already know that the REST API (of Azure DevOps) gives you the information, therefore your first step is calling the API. Then extract the information your need - how it needs to be done depends on your business requirements. Only than it'll be time for F&O-specific logic - putting the information to timesheets.
