Hi All,

I couldn't find any information on the below three system batch jobs that are running:

Recommendation batch job.
Process automation polling system job.
Data signature crawler system job that needs to regularly run at off hours.

Could someone let me know, what is the purpose of these batch jobs and if there is any impact if these jobs are WithHold.

PS: I have already checked the below link.

Hi Rusty Ryan,

Recommendation batch job is related to Recommended fields feature ( docs.microsoft.com/.../recommended-fields ). So if you haven't enabled feature it will do nothing, otherwise, if you stop it recommendations can be outdated.

Process automation polling system job. - it's some kind of queue implementation in D365. For example, it's used for vendor invoice posting when invoices approved for posting in a workflow. Invoice is added to the posting queue and during the next polling job run, it will be posted in batch.

Data signature crawler system job - something unknown for me.

Hi Rusty,

Below are the information regarding the remaining jobs.

The process automation polling job is a system level job that is why there is no as such documentation on it, but we have fixed the issue that is causing the job to through errors once in a while like update conflict etc.

Currently there is a feature in feature management, the “Sub-ledger to General ledger transfer process optimization” this feature uses this recurring batch job as an uptake which will optimize the transfer process when using Asynchronous option for batch transfer rule in General ledger parameters.

The Data signature crawler system job to rotate data signature.

The batch job to scan through database and detect what table and column is signed and built up SysHistoricalCryptography.

This batch job does not affect to the environment and just need to process one at a time, run at off hours of customers to not affect to the regular.

The system job by cryptography crawler max execution time (define in system administration >setup> SYSTEMJOBPARAMETERS)

Hi Harshal, regarding the Cryptography crawler system job and the Data signature crawler system job. The answer is for my not clear yet. Do you have in the meantime a little bit more understanding about these batch jobs. I did some investigation, but was not able to get more information than you already shared.
