Reserving item from inventory in SO

Hi, There is a scenario where in we are having an SO with one line item of qty 7. We are having stock of qty 5 for the same item. We need to reserve a qty of 5 for that line item and we need to create a purchase order for the same item for the remaining qty 2. How to deal this scenario. And in AX do we need to reserve the item in SO manually and AX will not do the reservation automatically if the items in SO are available in stock? Kindly suggest

    Hi Vineela

    For reserving the 5 available quantity ---

    1. Create a SO and required line

    2. Change the Mode at the botton of the screen from automatic to none

    3. Now go to stock button on the right>Go to reservation> Reserve the stock.

    This way required stock will be allocated, but it will not allocate the remaining stock automatically when new stock arrives through PO.  So you have to allocate the remaining stock manually when you receive the stock.

    Hello Vineela,

    I agree with the comment above, you can also have AX reserve items automatically. There is a checkbox in Procurement and Sourcing parameters that should be checked to perform this.
