Mass Update to Subject Titles

Hi,

I need to update hundreds of subject titles/names, which could take hours and prone to human error. Therefore, I want to find an automated way of doing this.

I wondered if it would cause any problems if I mass updated them using SQL against the subjectbase table?

Alternatively, is there a way of editing the subject names by way of uploading an Excel spreadsheet?

Any other ideas would also be welcome!

Thanks,

Richard

    Hi,

One way is you can export data in excel. Make changes of subject line in excel and re import that file to crm.

Through excel import export, this can be achieved

There doesn't appear to be any way to export the subjects?

One option could be, write a simple console application. Retrieve all subjects, push them in to kind of CSV file along with ID, Do the changes to the subject, Use update request to update back into CRM. Looks like that is the only option available for the situation. I don't suggest to update directly in database as it would be considered as unsupported.

    Thanks for the responses guys.

Does anyone know if updating the database directly would cause any specific issues?

    Hi crmrsw15,

    Updating database is strictly prohibited.

    Thank you.

    Hi crmrsw15,

I think you should definitely read this article.

As far as bulk updating, as Rutul Chauhan suggested, make changes of subject line in excel and re import that file to crm. That is the best way I'd suggest.

    Thank you.
