Hi,
I recently created a new project category in Proj Mngt & Acct. Problem I'm having is that I can view the corresponding Shared Category under Shared Categories but cannot see the Project Category in the list under Project Categories. When I try to create it again, i get the error message: "The record cannot be created because it already exists in either the Project accounting, Expense management, or Production application."
I did a lookup in the ProjCategoy table but the entry does not exists there. I also searched the Category table but still to no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction to getting passed this. Is there any other table in the DB where this entry is created.
Thanks

Hi CuongNguyen ,
It's a very old thread. Do you mind to create new one to let community help you out. Thanks.
Would you mind showing me more details about your solution. Thank you a lot!
I have cleared user usage data and project categories appeared in the Project Category form.
I had exactly the same problem as described above. However, no amount of playing, recreating data helped in my instance. Here is my problem, play-by-play:
Here was my SOLUTION:
Why I had to go through this doesn't make sense. Perhaps the client didn't like me adding the shared category with the Project Categories form open. Maybe this helps someone.
Weirdest thing. I went back to play with this some more and I recreated everything and it was there.
Have you made sure the shared categories entry includes check/enabled "used in project"? I've stumbled over this a few times myself, very confusing to have so many different entry points in the various modules, having to first define them as a common "shared" category, then as a module-specific category, then further check-enabling from one module to allow it to be used in another module.
Baber,
With regard to 1)...........this is correct. 2) .........this is correct as well, however the CategoryID is not in the CategoryTable. 3) Still not seeing it in there. This is weird.
Hi Nemesis,
Please check the following:
1) You said, you created a category in SharedCategories form. As a result of this, the record should get created in SharedCategory table.
2) The drop down for Category ID shows the record from CategoryTable table for which there is no categoryId matching with CategoryId in SharedCategory (Not exists Join). Make sure that the category Id you created does not exist in CategoryTable table.
3) Now if you open the Project categories form, you should see the new category Id in drop down, you can select it and should be able to save the record.
Please verify and let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Baber.
Hi Baber Owais,
Thing is, I created it first in the Shared Categories form. Actually, AX would not allow me to create it in the Project Categories form without it first being created in Shared Categories. And I went through the process of selecting it in the drop down of the Proj Cat form.
It's just that....... Its not in the proj. cat. list and AX is telling me that it already exists, yet its not visible in UI nor in the ProjCategory table.
Hi Nemesis,
Where you have created the project category? You need to create a project category first in Shared categories form and then it should be visible in the drop down of CategoryID on Project categories form. I just tried in AX 2012 R2 environment and it worked. Please take a look at below post related to this:
