AX-Util Validation issue : Validating Connection Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed during the post-login phase.

Hi,

I have a 3 Box environment (one SQL Box and 2 AOS Box) One AOS has DIXF running in it. Sometimes the DIXF stops running and when I look at logs it says " Cannot insert data into DMF* table. Error accessing database.".
Since this is unexpected error, DIXF goes into waiting state.

I did check the event log in SQL Box. I find an error for AX-Util (Copied the full error below). I am not sure what is causing this. I believe this causes the DIXF error above. I do not though find any other error in evnet log.

I have no idea what could be the reason. I am using AX 2012 R2 with CU7. Any suggestion on what this is / what is causing it or how to resolve would be helpful.

One point to note : We have changed both the AOS service and DIXF service account from network service account to an domain administrator account (in services.msc). We gave db_owner access to all the databases (ProdDB, ProdDB_Moldel and baseline database). Not sure if this might be causing this.

The full error on event log is below:

AXUtil operation failed : Validating Connection Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed during the post-login phase. Hi Girija, "Error accessing database". The database was not available, it is probably related to the change you made to the service accounts. Usually I create a new service account user and assign rights in SQL for that user. I don't recommend using the domain admin account as a service account.

    Hi,

did you respect the temp db?

look at the stored procedures dbo.CREATTEMPDBPERMISSIONS_XXXX in the master database these are created during installation. changing the accounts on the aos and or dixf should be reflected here. these scripts are exceuted during startup of the database server

only some glue: dont't konw if this is the right direction

    regards

    Douglas

    Hi Anton,

    Thanks for the reply.

We had left a continuous ping on network and we observed no loss there. The SQL Service was also running all through. As mentioned in my original mail the service account has db_owner access to all the databases.

    Hi Douglas,

    Thanks for the reply.

I did not check that. Will check and get back to you on this.

Hi Douglas, I did check that, it looks the service account has all the access it required. I also checked the SPs under master database and updated them and ran them as well.

I have created another post with my further findings at https://community.dynamics.com/ax/f/33/t/166849
