Hi,
What is the role of the variants codes in item master and can we maintain closing stock for variants.
Like a Opening + Produce - sales = closing stock.

Specifies variants of items. This is useful if you have a large number of almost identical items that vary only in color, for example. Instead of setting up each variant as a separate item, you can set up one item and then specify the various colors as variants of the item.
Can I maintain stock for thous variants..?
you can check Item Availability by variants on Item card just like location etc.
Yes you can Use item variants in Sales Order ,Purchase order and every other functionality where item is used and it maintain the stock also in ILE
But stock will show as per item card.
Exp : ITEM001 stock 10 nos and after production entry as per variants 1,2,3,4,5, and each variants have stock 10, 10 ,05 , 04 & 03 but item card will show sum of all variants. how to check each variants wise stock.
You can put filter on Item card and see the stock of variants
Or else you can add one flowfield as Stock in Item variant table to see the variant stock
