I am very much confused with the given Licensing presentation and firstly would like to ask some clarifications as below:

  1. If customer is having 20 Finance Users and same users want to use Supply Chain Modules as well so it means they have to take 20 Finance @180 + $30 Attachment , correct ?
  2. What if Customer us having 20 Finance users separate and 10 core Supply Chain Users , will the point number 1 remain valid 20 Finance @180 + $30 Attachment ?
  3. If Customer is having 20 Finance Users and 20 Sales Professional , 5 Sales Enterprise , 5 Customer Service Enterprise , 5 Customer Service Professional then in this scenario will it be like as below:
    1. Finance Base $20 @180 Dollars + Sales Professional Attachment $20 + Sales Enterprise Attachment $20 + Customer Service Enterprise Attachment $20 + Customer Service Professional $20 ?????
    2. Or we have to add base first for Sales , Customer Service as well along with Finance then attachment ?
  4. How many attachments can be done with one base ? is it N Number ?
  5. If customer signed 3 years EA before 1st October for D365 so will existing licenses model will remain intact ?

Now , coming to the BOQ of our current Dynamics AX Customer. He has below licensing at this moment so kindly can you advise what will be the D365 Licensing as per new guide:

  1. Qty 2 - Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Server Licenses
  2. Qty 22 – Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Enterprise Users
  3. Qty 2 – Task Users (Mainly using Sales & Marketing Module)
  4. Qty 4 – Customer Engagement Plan
  5. Qty 6 – Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise
  6. Qty 35 – D365 Sales Enterprise Edition

Will be very thankful if you can provide me line by line answers.

    Hi Hassam,

Hereby the answers as I do understand the new licensing (as of October 2019). Note that I'm not a licensing expert.

    1. Correct

    2. Incorrect. It is named user based. Each user will require the first $180 as base license.

    3. You didn't mention if these will be the same or other users.

    4. I haven't thought about this, but could be indeed unlimited.

    5. Check with a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) or Microsoft.

For the BOQ, also check the options with a CSP or Microsoft.

I am not sure  I have any more clarity on this.

For your Enterprise user if they work in both SCM and Finance then they will need a base license for either  one , and an attach license for the other.

Each attach license is for a specific user who has a base license e.g. Finance and also needs the other functionality i.e, Finance.

I think its  possible that  a user with a base license could also attach other licenses  e.g. Teams, or CRM apps i.e. the new license approach is to encourage adoption of the whole stack.
