Hi guys,

We updated fresh AX 2012 R3 (RTM) to CU11.

Steps:

1. Run the update installer

2. Installed the custom update package & proceed.

Unfortunately ended up with Kernel & application version mismatch.

Kernel version: 6.3.164.0 (which is same as RTM)

Application version: 6.3.4000.123

I'm requesting you to, share your valuable suggestions to overcome this issue

    Refer to this thread:

    community.dynamics.com/.../120121

If your kernel version is wrong, you have to download the most recent one from LCS and apply it on all servers where you have AX components installed, to patch them up.

    Hi Vilmos,

    Appreciate your kind advise.

In the above specified thread, I found discussion about image file

    " I didn't have Dynamics ax2012 r2 cu7 image files. I was not aware of that"

I didn't understand what's image file & how it's related to version numbers.

    Could you please elaborate..

    Hi Krishna,

The link provided by Vilmos was an example to illustrate your kernel is not updated. In the past we had setup image files. Now the updates are started from the LCS update installer.

Anyway: Try to rerun the update installer and select the AX components to be updated.

    Hi Andre & Vimlos,

Can I do slip-stream for CU11 updation for

    .AX 2012 R3 (RTM). -  already installed.

(i.e copying slip-stream folders to the update folder & Run  the Setup.exe)

Slip-streaming the standard installer kit with the extra updates is used for a clean installation of AX. If you want to just patch it up, you need to use the update tool as suggested by André

    Hi Vilmos,

    Appreciate your kind advise.

I may repeating the question, Since I read some articles which makes me bit confuse.

    Current system:

    1. AX 2012 R3 (RTM) - fresh installtion  not applied any updates.

Now I want to update to CU11. Kernel & Application version should be 6.3.4000.127.

Without slip stream process, couldn't achieve this(As of my knowledge).

So Now I want to do slip-stream for the above system(RTM).

Kindly advise(share any links how to proceed step by step)?

It does not make sense to me to do a clean install with slip-streaming, when you could just update the binary files with the LCS AxUpdate tool.

If you want slip-stream, uninstall all previous components except the setup support files and AX database. Then reinstall the components with the slip-streamed installer kit, pointing to your already created database and baseline modelstore. That way the executables will become updated.

I would recommend to test this in a test environment first, and once you are confident of what you are doing, you could go ahead with it elsewhere too.

Also I would advise to use some sort of snapshotting if this is a virtual environment before and after the uninstall/install steps, just in case something would fail.
