Can we upgrade Ax 2012 Cu2 to D365

Hi Team,

I want to know if we can upgrade Ax 2012 CU2 to D365? As some sites states that we can't do upgrade from Ax 2012, we should have at least R2 or R3 to upgrade to D365.Is it so?

If yes then should we first upgrade to AX 2012 R2 and then D 365?What will be the best approach for upgrade?

Even D365 has many version so which one we should select?

What will be the time required for this upgrade process if we consider system with more customisation & interfaces,workflows?

If we suggest to choose D365 on premise , will there be any change in upgrade process or timeline?

Any pointer to follow this process?

If you go to do documentation (Upgrade from AX 2012 to Finance and Operations), the first sentence there says: Important: Upgrade is currently supported from either Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 only. That answers your first question. Yes, you need to upgrade to a supported version first.
In general, you want to upgrade to the latest version, otherwise you would have to do another upgrade later. But in this case, it also depends on whether you're able to avoid all overlayering of Application Suite. You can't overlayer App Suite in 8.0, therefore if you need that, you can stay on 7.3 before you solve it.
It's impossible to give estimate time without analyzing how much work needs to be done in your particular case.
Code upgrade will be the same, unless you want to use features that aren't available on promises. Then you would have to develop a workaround.
