Good Day,
Thank you for your interest.
Background: We are researching on implementing a scheduling solution that uses Only 'Resource Requirements' to define the scheduling filters on the schedule board. We are not interested in using the Field Service component (Work Orders) as part of the scheduling solution. The overall scope of the solution is to use the Universal Resource Scheduling to schedule regular work shifts for part time employees. Conventional Field Service concepts do not apply such as onsite customer service, work orders, field technicians traveling...etc.
So How do we generate a Booking Journals for bookings based on the Resource Requirement details? Will the booking still calculate the booking timestamps (provided the employee updates the field service mobile app) and calculate the hourly pay based on the Resource Pay Type? OR are Booking journals only generated when 'Work Orders' are used?
Thank you again,
Best Regards
Hey Gabriel, Thank you for your kind response. You message is a validation of what I ended up doing. Maybe you can help me with my next step?
So, after the work is completed and a booking journal is generated, the booking journal calculates the pay and records the times for 'payroll tracking' but it doesn't show the related Bookable Resource to whom those hours and pay are associated. Just the Generic Work Order.
I created a custom relationship to Account but I don't know of a way to populate the Account Lookup field with the bookable resource from the original Work Order/Bookable Resource Booking? The goal would then be to do a roll up on the Account entity for all the related booking journal records.
Any suggestions on non-development approach? I'm sure JS can do it don't have a developer background.
Thank You Again
Best Regards,
Arslan
Hi Sunny.
I have done it a few times in the past. I created a custom and the relationship to booking and resource requirements. It won't have any Field Service feature associated with it.
This solution won't have the Time Entry, Booking Journal, Resouce Utilization Insight or any new feature released on the Field Service product.
Sooner or later you might need to use one of the features from Field Service and it won't be possible.
My experience with the previous implementations is to use the Work Order regardless if you don't need all the capabilities. You can simplify the Work Order form to better suit the users (Hide fields, Business Rule can auto-populate fields, etc).
