Hi All,
Iam using entity to get GL transactions from D365FO using OData. From the record is it possible to category the transaction into following?.
If possible using which column field?
Thanks,
Silvester
Hi Joseph,
All accounting entries do have have a 'Posting type' and 'Transaction type' which can be used to categorize the transactions.
Hi André,
Thanks for the reply. Following are the headers received in response.
dataAreaId GeneralJournalAccountEntryRecId PostingLayer AccountingDate AccountDisplayValue TransactionCurrencyCreditAmount DocumentDate Description ReportingCurrencyAmount TransactionCurrencyAmount JournalCategory TransactionCurrencyDebitAmount LedgerAccount TransactionCurrencyCode IsCredit AccountingCurrencyAmount IsCorrection DocumentNumber Voucher PostingType LedgerName JournalNumber AcknowledgementDate Quantity
In that not able to find Transaction type field. Could you please help?Iam using 2020 release wave 1 version.
Can you explain where exactly these headers are coming from?
HI André,
While calling the Entity GeneralJournalAccountEntryEntities using REST Method Iam getting these headers and their values.
Hello Silvester,
Do you really want to analyze GL transactions by making use of OData?
OData connections are in general slow and not very suitable for analyzing GL data.
Also, the balances (no 30) cannot be simply extracted but would have to be calculated.
On first sight, this extraction / data analysis does not seem to be feasible for a production environment.
Would recommend having a look at different techniques/tools, such as PowerBI.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Hi Ludwid,
I only have access to the data using ODATA , and Iam successful in retrieving it. Now my challenge is to identify the transaction type.
Ludwig is correct. I overlooked the fact that you are using OData. This is not suitable for large data sets. How many transactions do you expect to retrieve in the future? Export to BYOD or Data lake would be a better approach.
Out of the box, there is no GL entries entity which can be used with OData. Do you have a customization or add-on?
The standard data entity which can be used with data management, does indeed not have the transaction type field included. A developer should be able to extend the entity.
