What is the difference between a suspended department and an inactive department?

Hi,

I wanted to know if there is a difference between a suspended department versus an inactive department? Is there one option where outstanding items in the department would still be eligible to be manipulated (i.e. opened POs pending reception?)

Or would in either case the department be closed and no further actions can be taken?

Thank you for your help!

    Let me rephrase;

    For example ; if you set active to field as 5 th  of April. March period is closed.

    If we are in the 6 th of April.(System date);

    User will not be able to use that dimension on a journal with the date of 7 th of April.

    But if the journal date is 4 th of April, user will be able to use.

    But if the journal date is 20 th of March, use will be able to use but can not post the transaction

    Hi Billur, that would only be possible if technically the fiscal period is still opened. If the fiscal period isn't opened then it operates like a suspended department.

    Is my understanding correct?

    Not likely.

    For example ; if you set active to field as 31 st of March.

    If we are in the 1 st of April.(System date);

    User will not be able to use that dimension on a journal with the date of 1 st of April.

    But if the journal date is 5 th of March, user will be able to use.

    Hi Billur, thank you for your response.

    So this means that after the "Active to" date has passed, the department acts the same as a suspended account?

    Hi,

    If you suspend, you will not be able to use it. If you use active to and from, you can use it within the interval.
