Hi:

How does data backup and recovery working in Business Central?

In addition to sending a ticket to Microsoft to ask for a database restore, is it simply a matter to conducting a restore in the Admin Center?

Is there point in time recovery and, if so, how far back can you go?

Thanks!

John

Microsoft does the backups automatically. You can use the Business Central admin center to restore an environment to any specific point in time in the past 28 days, you don't need to send a ticket to Microsoft.

    Hi John,

As mentioned, to restore an environment, you'll have to provide a name for the environment and a date/time from which to restore the database.

Before you can export the database file, you must first set up the Azure storage account container that the .bacpac file will be exported to. Please check the Microsoft Documents:

Just to add to all the other answers you got here. When you restore a production environment Microsoft will allow you two run two production environments in parallell for a while until you decide what production environment you decide to keep.
So make sure you put new production transactions only in one of the environments.
