General journal Integration with third party software fucntional document required

I have a requirement. Need to set up an integration that will import General Journal data from other third-party software with a recurring data import job. I request if anyone of you has given a solution like this earlier, could you please share the document with me. I need a document with the functional point of view, not need technical details like logic app mappings, etc.

    It depends predominantly on what other system is, if it's able to export the necessary data, if you have access to it, if you need to vendor to implement some changes and so on. If someone gives you a solution for a different system, it'll be useless to you.
     
    Then you need to think about the business scenarios. Which system will trigger communication, what scenarios do you support (e.g. update of an existing journal), whether you need to notify the other system in some cases (e.g. when an error occurs), if you want to do other things than just import (e.g. automated posting or creating a work item for someone to validate and post it) and so on.
     
    When you have some idea about what you want to implement, how you're able to get the data and what transformation is needed, you can start designing the integration.

    Thanks for your reply to the question.
    I am thinking, once the data is posted in third-party software we could able to import it through recurring job setup and integration with the data entity 'General Journal'. That will be done through logic apps. I shall give a single common value in all lines not match to D365 journal batch number, D365Fo will generate journal batch numbers as per the number sequence. If no error in the journal, then it will come to D365.
    My issue is if any error comes either we need to correct it in logic apps or in third-party transactions. if we do it there and run it run again the system will create a new journal batch number, while the old unposted journal batch is still there.
    I would request here any sample functional process document available on how to integrate third-party software with D365FO and how to handle if the error comes. Any sample document could help me to progress in my work.
    Posting, logic apps that is not an issue. That we will manage. The main issue is error handling and re-running the process.

    Hi,
     
    If there is a failure in FO, Journal can be exported to excel , make changes and publish it (This would be useful if the journal lines are more). For minimum lines, we can correct it in staging table as that would have the scope of 'Journal batch number' and trigger the import again. 
    On the other hand, if the data correction is from the third party, journal will be created again in FO as the file will not have journal#. You can try incorporating a logic to have a reference field in the file and search if a journal exists in FO with such reference. In this case, both creation & updation can be handled.

    Create Custom Service service group and logic app in azure porta then integrate this app with D365 fo and third party through power automate.
