Follow/unfollow work item in sales accelerator?

Hi guys,

I am using the sales hub app and notice there is a filter option "Followed" in the work list of Sales Accelerators.

What does the "Followed" mean?

I digged for days and find out there are something like "record wall" which is replaced by timeline(is that true?) .

I tried to configure the Activity Feeds Configuration but the Follow/unfollow is only available on User entity by default. I activated the Lead configuration and published the Lead entity.

There is no Follow/Unfollow button displayed in the command bar.

But there is a new View added to the view List.

You can see there is exactly a Follow button displayed in the command bar in a Youtube video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw8uoHsPzE8)

Notice this video is posted at 2021/08/31.

What did I miss...? Or if the filter option "Followed" in the work list of Sales Accelerators is totally irrelevant to Activity Feeds?

Thank you !

Any answer or web resources are very appreciated!

Best Regards

Justin

    Hello Justin,

Follow Button is like a OOB button which will be available for some OOB Entities. If you want to enable for custom entities then you need to configure the "Activity Feeds Configuration".

Follow will be useful when you want to track some records without searching it every time from the Quick search. It is like you are bookmarking the list of records.

    Hi Amit Katariya007

    Thank you for your reply!

I configured the activity feeds but I still can not follow a Lead record. I can only follow a User record but do not know where/how to use the follow function in D365 Sales.

Your link is for crm but not the D365 Sales. I googled for days but there are very few description about D365 follow function like it will be abandoned...

    Best Regards,

    Justin

    Hello Justin,

Like Sales Module is part of CRM.

And can you try to configure Follow button for some other entities and check if it is working or not.

    Thank You,

    Amit Katariya

Hi Justin.s , there used to be a solution called Activity Feeds (long time ago) that initially was optional and later became part of the product. With the activity feeds, the forms would get the wall which later was replaced by the current timeline feature.

The "Follow" option is described here: Introduction to activity feeds (Developer Guide for Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises)) | Microsoft Docs

I can see the "follow" button in both the form and the view in a vanilla environment.

The Follow button on the view, will show/hide depending on wether you have selected a record or not. On the screenshot that you've added, no record is selected. I've also noticed that the ribbon may have been customized, could be good to confirm if the buttons where hidden intentionally or not, if you're using Ribbon Workbench or a different solution.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Pedro

    Hi Pedro Sacramento

    Thank you very much !!

When I select a record the buttons show up!

But I can not get the point of the Follow fuction. If it is true that in the old version of D365 following a record will cause the new post of that record shows on my wall, then what does Follow a record mean in the latest version?

I can find the followed records in the "XXX I follow" view, is there any other benefit?

    Best Regards,

    Justin
