GP Client software VS Web Client Performance

Posted on by 5

Hello Everyone,

We currently utilize GP Dynamics 2016 installed in a Terminal Server environment. We generally have about 25-30 users accessing GP and the software is quite slow to respond. I was wondering if generally there was better performance experienced by those using the web client over the desktop client. This would also remove our need to have people using RD access for this application.

Thanks,

Does the performance slow down the more users connected? When you say it is slow is it when users move from screen to screen or when they post or run reports? If you were to move to the web client all of that activity would move to one computer.

    Hey Richard,

We are using a single TS host environment, no VDI with separate desktops. The all resources are currently shared between all users, something that could be adjusted but just how it has been since I joined the organization.

For all users they share 24vCPUs (E5-2630V3) and 64GB of RAM backed by RAID 5 SATA SSDs.

Do you have all 30 users hitting the same T/S at the same time? How much RAM are you allocating for each user? It may be time to split the load with one maybe two other T/S's. I do not think going to the web client will solve the sluggish problem.
