Inventory dimensions on BOM and Production order

Hi

When I create a new Production order I indicate the required Inventory dimensions (Site, Warehouse, Location, Batch number). I also created the BOM for the item I want to produce. This BOM has only one line and no Inventory dimensions are specified. Nevertheless, when I click the BOM button on the Production order form, the BOM line shows the Inventory dimensions that were specified for the production order. These are the same dimensions that are registered on the Picking list journal. Why and how does this happen?

    Hi fgil12,

Example would be nice to see or to know the setup.

BOM should atleast have inventory dimension site, so it is not possible in standard to create BOM without inventory dimension.

If you create production order for item and inventory dimension for Site set to 1, you can only pick BOMs from site 1, if you can pick from others then this is not standard AX.

Also based on the contoso R3 and R2 2012, system should while creating picking list lines and picking Lot ID choose inventory dimension that where specified on BOM Lines, unless you are using resource consumption checkmark then this doesn't apply.

    Hi Andrej

Yes, you're right, BOMs must have at least Inventory dimension Site configured, and picking list journals must choose inventory from the specified dimensions on BOM. I have checked on this again and it was OK from the beginnig, I was just mistaken. Thanks a lot.
