hello

quick question. 

i have 2 tables to use in one report. 

sales price table which iam getting the item no. and unit price

and iam using item cross reference table to get the customer ref number.

i know how to relate the 2 tables. iam data linking the cross ref table item no to sales price item no.

but when i run the report everything is fine besides the cross ref number is giving me all the same numbers on all the items.

what code or what do i need to do

    Hi,

    The cross reference record is probably only got after the print on the price record.

    I would normally do this differently.  I only use a dataitem if I want to print the record or process the table.  For what you need (I assuming) is a lookup of the customer cross reference so I would use a record variable and use a GET/FIND command.

    I figured it out thanks. quick question though. when i have 2 dataitems and creat a report. and put required filter. and when i run the report if i put  a filter on the second data item , nothing happends it doesnt filter anything why is that?

    Hi,

    Not clear on what your problem is. Probably due to coding (i.e. a setrange/setfilter) or the dateitem link.

    Can you give an example?

     Hi Dave

    Ok lets say i have a report with the following

    item and item ledger entries. 

    i have linked the item ledger entry to item. and i created a report. now i want to use a filter form the item ledger entry so i put the req filters in the propertires but when i run the report and i use that filter , nothing happends. lets aay i put a date range , it doesnt filter it.

    Assuming you're DataItemIndenting the second dataitem - are you also setting the DataItemTableView of the second dataitem?  If you're not - a tab for each dataitem should be visible when you run the report.  you can set filters on either one or both or none.

    i get 2 tabs. when i run the report. but on the second dataitem or second tab when i put a filter when iam runing the report it doenst filter anything out. it gives me the whole report. lets say i want xx product group code from the dataitem item. it doesnt filter it out. if the item dataitem was indented. 

    is there anything i need to do so the filter will work when i run the repot and add a filter?

    Hi,

    I'd be surprised if it does filter out anything. Do you have any code reseting the filter your setting.  Also if the filter is applies at the second level then it won't filter the first level.

    Are you getting

    Item 1

    Item 2

       Detail 1

       Detail 2

    Item 3

    Item 4... 

      To get around this use the PrintOnlyIfDetail property and only Item 2 will print.

    Item is a main table - most would use it as the First Dataitem. 

     Either way - as mentioned above.  you could just use Item Ledger Entry and a simple

    Item.GET("Item No."); will allow you to display any item info you need that's not already contained in the ILE table.

     hello

    yes i use the item.get code. everything outputs correctly but sorry maybe iam missing something i dont understand. 

    ok let me explain one more time because i dont think printdetailonly is what iam looking for. 

    ok i have item as the frist dataitem and i have item ledger entry as second indented dataitem. 

    i link things togethor and i put item.get codes and everything comes out correctly. so now i run the report and it asks me to put any filters and so on so on the second tab which is item ledger entry i put lets say filter by date or filter by a specific field, it does not filter it. it gives me the whole report as if i never put any filter. 

    i hope it is clear.

     hi guys since were on this topic. one more question

    i created a report from item dataitem. simple purchase/sale qtys. 

    since i created a flowfiled in the table of the item for sales qty and purchase qty from itemledger entry i already have what i need so i made a report with the following

    item no, description, purchase qty, sales qty

    ok my question is if i want to make the situation as follows. IF purchase qty or sales qty is greater than 0 then show output. how will i set this filter. as long as purchase or qty have qty greater than 0 then it should show but if both are 0 or less than 0 it should not show.

    secondly i know how to set data filter range. i can put lets say 01-01-09..04-01-09 that will filter the dates so my question is how about if i want to filter a range of items. lets say i have inventory items that have codes like the following

    SAVAN

    SAVEN

    SAVON

    so i want to filter and i want a range to show as follwos. SA..SA

    it should give me everything items in between this letters. but its not. 

    i cant even put the first 3 letters of an item for me to filter with that. please help
