Changing continous number sequence to non-continous

Dear Friends,

I have a requirement to change the number sequence of general journals to non-continuous having experienced used voucher issues at various times within the year.

I will like to know if there are any complications in doing so. I am aware changing non-continuous to continuous is not recommended, but I am yet to see any implications of doing the reverse (continuous to non-continuous).

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Wiilly 02,

There would be no technical impact if you change it, however according to accounting regulations you might need a continuous number.

You can better find the culprit of the issue with used vouchers. Do you have multiple number sequences with exactly the same pattern? In that case you will get the issue again, even with non-continuous number sequences. Or maybe it could be related to a customization (import via x++ coding?) where a status list is created incorrectly. Just providing some food for thought.

You can also read my blog about the temporary voucher functionality which can prevent incorrect numbers in the status list: What is the temporary voucher functionality in Dynamics 365? (dynamicspedia.com)

Thanks, Andre, we are facing a similar issue, we have checked around the system and we don't have multiple number sequences using the same pattern. we intend to utilize the non-continuous setting as well as preallocation
