Does GP2010 support Cross-domain login ?
example : client install on (x domain) and server on ( Y domain ).
How can I get GP to support this connectivity?
Moved to GP forum.
Hello Taruna,
By default GP uses an ODBC connection and SQL logins to connect. This means that GP does not care about domains. Instead it cares about networks, with the client and server needing to be on the same network.
That said, GP 2010 has been out of support for quite a few months, so we would strongly recommend upgrading:Dynamics GP 2010 - Microsoft Lifecycle | Microsoft Docs
Hi Taruna,
As Justin mentioned already, the GP client doesn't need a domain account to logon users.. However, in case you want to use e-mailing out of GP, the built-in Excel or SSRS reports, which are most of the time rely on Windows Authentication to access the data, then you'll have to make sure your SQL server hosting the GP data is properly setup with cross-domain authentication.
It's not so much the SQL security that is to blame if authentication doesn't work ,but rather the way your Active Directory (AD) was setup to allow or not cross-domain authentication. If you can logon to Windows with any domain user on a computer from another domain, then the authentication against a SQL server should work too, given you properly setup access in SQL Security.
