Dynamics GP Web Client Install

Posted on by

When upgrading GP then installing the web client, the entire process seemed to run to completion. However, we can only see the first option under each menu item

.Web-Client.docx

  • When we click the item, the system opens the appropriate window and functions as expected.
  • If we perform a search for a window that's not visible, we can select, and open the window, which opens and functions as expected.

Here is some background as to what was done:

We did not see the UPGRADE button so we went to the sub folder and installed nsi

We have reviewed the log files, which show the system loaded the windows that are not visible

  • We are running Windows Server R2
  • We checked the .net framework to ensure we meet the minimum requirements
  • We also installed Dexterity Common Objects.

Do you have any suggestions on what needs to be done to see the remaining tasks under each

RE: Dynamics GP Web Client Install

    Christopher,

Looks like you are running a known issue with the Fall 2021 (18.4) version of the WebClient runtime folder that is laid down in the GP 18.4 client folder on your Web Client machine.  We're going to be addressing this in an upcoming patch for the GP client, but in the meantime you have potential two workarounds:

    1) Use the Search feature in the Web Client to find and open any window you want to use.  You're probably already using that window to switch between open forms in the Web Client, so this may not be a big change for users.

    2) If you have a GP 18.3 client install with the Web Client Runtime folder you can rename the WebClient folder in your 18.4 client folder (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\WebClient) and replace that WebClient folder with one from an 18.3 release.  This folder really just tells GP how to translate the Dexterity windows to HTML5 for the Web Client, so there should be little impact)
