Ax 2009 Move Pallet Function Accountability

(0) ShareShare

Hi,

We are using Ax 2009 and using Dynamics Anywhere as our RF Scanning solution.

To relocate pallet within a warehouse and between different warehouses within a site we use "Move Pallet" function. (This is done via RF Guns. Effectively, Dynamics Anywhere, triggers the standard "Move Pallet Function" to relocate the pallet).

Is there a way to know who did the Pallet Movement Transaction. (Our warehouse managers are interested in putting some accountability in place for these transactions).

When I look at pallet transports and picking routes, I can see operator ID of the employee who did the transaction. But for normal pallet relocation I do not know where to find this information.

Regards,

    Hi Rangi,

Dynamics Anywhere is using probably inventory transfer journals in the background. You can try to see if there is some user logging.

You can also contact your partner for support as Dynamics Anywhere is an add-on. I know about the product; have seen a demo twice, but not have experience with it in my implementations.

    Hi André,

Thanks for your reply. I'll contact our partner as you advised.

Can you please advise on the following.

If I take Dynamics Anywhere out of the equation, (i.e. lets take the scenario that we relocate pallets by using move pallet function), is it possible to check who did the transaction.

What if I enable created by and modified by fields on InventTrans Table. Enabling these fields may provide me user id's of the users who did the pallet movement transaction. However, considering InventTrans is a critical table, I am not sure what implications it could have on system performance.

    Regards,

    Rangi

    Hi Rangi,

Enabling the modified by can decrease your performance of AX. The modified by does not say which fields were changed. Also there is no history of changes.

The transfer journal has a field who posted the journal with the lines. This can be another person than the person who created the lines. I also don't know if Dynamics Anywhere is using this journal or not.

Possibly the createdby can be enabled on Inventory journal lines. This has less impact comparing putting the createdby on the inventory transactions.

You can try to find out in a test environment the performance penalty when you enable the createdby or modified by fields.
