Assign Case to right Team from Portal

Hi,

We are using a Portal where users create Cases and it will automatically be created in CE.

On the portal page, we have a Category field. There are 3 categories, x y, and z. Right now, every Case that is created from the Portal will have a specific Team as an owner of the Cases. But I want based on which category they choose, that the specific teams sets as the owner of the Case.

I have three teams, Team X, Team Y and Team Z. I thought about Routing cases but only one rule can be active, I also tried with a  business rule and it worked but didn't update directly the owner.

Which method would you use to manage this, based on which category they choose in Portal, the Team regarding this category should be inserted as an owner of the Case automatically.

    Hi Denzo,

    Just want to confirm:

    1. Is your Category a custom entity as a lookup field for Case entity ?

    2. I found there is no field that has "regarding" as display name in OOB Category entity, do you mean the Owner or Owning Team field for category entity ?

    You could create a background workflow to manage this as per my understanding.

    When a case entity record is created, then find current case record’s related Category entity, then populate/update the Owner field to related category’s owning team/regarding field;Or doing update action by adding Assign Record To step directly.

    Hi Clofly,

    1. Category is the Subject field, a lookup from Case to Subjects.

    2. Sorry for misunderstanding but i mean Owner of the Case. A category selected on the Case in the Portal, should decide which Team the Case should be assigned to.
